The Commission

April 3, 2016

Summary

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” | 19-20
The Great Commission is Jesus call to His disciples to take what He has done to the rest of the world. As people 2000 years later on the other side of the world, it is clear that it worked. What was it that they did? How did a Middle Eastern religion based on a poor rural teacher who claimed to be God become the dominant faith in the world? The story of the Great Commission is ordered and chaotic, organic and institutional; it is a story that is still being written. As we approach the command from Jesus to His 12 apostles, we see His call to all Christians throughout time. More than anything else, we see a call to reorganize our lives around the priorities of the Kingdom. If Jesus lives, then everything changes. The resurrection is not just about something that happens to us in the future, but how we live as people remade NOW.
