1 Peter 2.4-10 | STAND FIRM…on your identity in Christ.

July 30, 2016

Summary

As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. | 1 Peter 2.4-10

Basic summary of the text:

Jesus was a reject, He invites you to be a reject with Him and other rejects, in order to create something that God will not reject: holy worship.

Your identity with Jesus is going to make you a stranger in the world, but it will also connect you to other strangers, working together to be the blessing that God has created you to be. God’s plan to reveal Himself to the world is through a group of people doing their best to worship Him: a kingdom of priests, a holy nation, a people for His own possession.
