1 Samuel 17 | Let no man’s heart fail because of him

September 17, 2017

Summary

The story of David and Goliath is one of the best known in the Bible. It is also one of the most misused. This is not that story of a small man who had the courage to face his giants; this is the story of a man so offended by the slander of God’s name that he acts passionately (albeit somewhat irrationally) for God’s honor. This is the story of God revealing His power through the faith of a little man. The challenge to us is about our passion for God’s glory. How much are you willing to risk for the sake of God’s name? Your battle will most likely not be against a Philistine giant, but instead it will take place by standing up to popular opinion and cultural pressures for the sake of God. The question we need to wrestle with is: do I have that high a view of God’s glory?
