Father,
You are the LORD, and there is no other. You are God in heaven above and on the earth beneath; besides you there is no God. You declare the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done. Your counsel shall stand, and you will accomplish all your purpose. You are the Lord; there is no other. You form light and create darkness; you make well-being and create calamity; you are the Lord, who does all these things. Nothing is too big or too difficult for you.
We sin and fall short of your glory, and are justified by your grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom you put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. In living a perfect life and dying an undeserved death Jesus displayed your righteousness justice: his death payed the price that all sin against you requires. And not only this, but in this Jesus became our justifier, graciously bestowing his righteousness upon us who, by faith, trust in him for salvation. You have compassion on us; you tread our iniquities underfoot. You cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.
Who is a God like you, abundantly pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of your inheritance? You are high and lifted up; you inhabit eternity and your name is Holy. Yet you dwell with them who are contrite and lowly in spirit. You revive the spirit of the lowly, and the heart of the contrite. In response to your character and your gospel, please propel us to live with a confidence of identity and purpose. May we love you will all our heart, soul and might. May we love our neighbor as ourselves. Please enable us to do justice, love kindness, and to walk humbly with you.
Thank you for the gospel and the hope it give us. Thank you for Jesus and the gift of grace. Amen.
