FRUIT of the SPIRIT

But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. | Romans 6:22–23

The Bible uses the term ‘fruit’ to describe both the benefits of the Christian life and the character that is developed as someone matures in the faith. In this, fruit becomes something to strive for, as well as the measure of where we are on our journey of sanctification.

In this sermon series, we will be focusing on the fruit that the Bible points us to in Galatians 5:22-23. This gives us a direction to focus our efforts. It also provides positive traits for us to cultivate in ourselves and those we lead. While people tend to focus on what NOT to do, or how far you can go without crossing God’s moral boundaries, the fruit of the Spirit gives us a place to invest in.

We should bear fruit! This will be done by the Spirit producing through our efforts aimed in God’s direction.
