My heart is glad that you are my father
Adopted to you as sons and daughters

And your love endures
As you said it would, and my heart sings

Teach me the sound of your voice
With the faith to respond, to love you
Teach me to follow you close
With the faith you bestow, to love you

My heart is glad to serve you as king
Forgive the times that I am stubborn

With a humble heart
May I come to you, and my heart sings

On Sunday we sang the song: A Prayer for Faith (the lyrics are above). It perfectly expresses the process by which we grow into the people of God. We receive so much from God, but we struggle with accepting it as enough (Forgive the times that I am stubborn). As God continues to be faithful, He slowly breaks down our desire for something bigger and better, by showing us that HE IS BEST. He does this through continued loving discipline. He cares enough to answer our prayers.

When it comes down to it, the thing that I am most thankful for is not anything that God gives specifically, but that He cares. The fact that we are able to be in relationship with God is the most unimaginable truth of all.

When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers,

the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,

what is man that you are mindful of him,

and the son of man that you care for him? | Psalm 8.3-4
