Summary
KEY VERSES // Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. | 1 Peter 1.3-5
The great hope of the Christian is that life is not measured in worldly means. We are not ultimately the scarred, fragile people we often feel like we are. This is not to dismiss reality; life is hard, suffering is to be expected. Hope is our solace. The hope that we are given in Christ is that we have been remade; that the life of Christ has been shared with us. Our hope is in a future where all of the suffering and failures that make up this life, are no more. We can hope in this, not because of something we have done, but because of the faithful mercy of God. He has secured this future for us. He keeps it from perishing. He keeps it from decay. He keeps it from fading. This perfect future is coming because it is His plan. We can live in confidence knowing that we miss nothing in this life that the future can not make up for. This perfect future bleeds back into our life to produce a LIVING HOPE.
