Summary
This is a section on relationships. Many of the characters in these two chapters do not play the role we expect. Jonathan, the heir to the throne, gives his robes and honor to David. Saul uses his daughter to set a trap for his adversary. His daughter returns the favor by saving her husband from her dad (as does her brother). David saves Israel from Goliath and the Philistines and in return is hated by Saul. One story after another makes you wonder what is going on. Through all of it we see the very fickle nature of human relationship. If you live faithfully, some people will love you, some will hate you, some things will go well and some things will not. The one relationship that really matters is the one that we have with our heavenly Father. In these two chapters we see that while there are a lot of ups and downs, God is always there for David. His love and protection are always there, and often missed.
