Summary
We saw in chapter 3 that God makes a time for everything, forcing us to find meaning in even the things that seem completely unnecessary and even harsh from an earthly perspective. In this chapter the pundit helps us to place all of these varying ‘times’ into our decision-making process. In other words, there is not only a place to cry (a time to weep), but there are times when we should pursue weeping. The same goes for anger, hate, love and peace. What we choose is not just determined by the situations we find ourselves in, but how we see those situations fitting into the process of life. By viewing life from the perspective of death, we are able to value things appropriately. It is only in relationship with God that we can find the proper context for appreciating what God is doing in the world.
