Summary
The greatest battle that we face in this life is not against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of evil (Ephesians 6). This means that sin is our greatest enemy. Though sin is an act against God, He invites us to come to Him with our sin so that he can save us from it. This penitential lament is David encouraging us to take our sin to God, but also helping us to think through what we expect God to do as we pray to Him.
