Summary
One of the problems with postmodern culture is that it does not value what it throws away. In other words, we are often quick to purge things we deem invaluable without thinking through whether or not we have a something to replace what we have just removed. The pundit does not give us this option. After attacking the ‘firm’ foundation that many of our positions are built on and showing us how to loosen our postures, the pundit swoops in to make sure that we aren’t loosening for the sake of looseness. We don’t need to just push back against our defaults, but we need to replace them with something every bit as powerful. The pundit gives us some fundamentals to apply to our ‘situational wisdom;’ some tools for the tool belt. In this, he is building us up into a eople who are reay to face a complex and challenging world.
