Summary
Jesus restores sight to a blind man and makes a statement about being the light of the world. This sign and I AM statement are revealing to us how Jesus works to bring people who were spiritually blind to sight. The story then goes on to show the barriers that people put between themselves and belief; what blindness looks like manifested in our rationalism. This all points to our dependence on Jesus for every aspect of life and salvation.
