Summary
To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 1 Cor. 12:7
Becoming a Christian means entering into a relationship with Christ (vertical component) and also entering into a relationship with fellow believers (horizontal component). God has ordained that one of the ways we grow and mature as believers is through being in community with other believers. To this end, He endows each believer with certain gifts with which to uniquely serve the body. Every believer has something valuable to offer the church community. What this means is that the health of the local church depends, in part, on every member actively serving and ministering to one another.
