Summary
Job’s friends approach him in his suffering in an attempt to help him make sense of it. This begins with the oldest: Eliphaz. His point to Job is that God is perfectly just, so Job’s suffering must stem from sin. While many of the things Eliphaz points out are true, he connects the dots in a way that does not give an accurate description of why people suffer. Job responds with why he feels these answers are inadequate and once again appeals to God for an answer.
